Arriving at Finca del Niño as a young child was a daunting experience. To be uprooted from my familiar surroundings and thrust into an unfamiliar environment was a challenge I had to face. Yet, within the walls of Finca, I found a home, a family, and a future.
The Sisters, Mami Zulena, and the kind Tías took amazing care of me. They taught me about school, faith, and being a good person. Those lessons are still with me today.
Leaving Finca in 2022 was a big deal. Turning 18 and graduating high school was bittersweet. I had so many good memories, but I was also excited about what was next.
Looking back, I realize Finca was more than just a place. It was a gift. It was a safe place where I could grow and be myself.
As I grew up, I had ups and downs. But the things I learned at Finca always kept me on the right track. The love and support I got there made me who I am today.
I often think about where I'd be without Finca. It's crazy to think how much it's shaped my life. I'm so lucky to have grown up there.
As I go to college, I'm inspired by all the lives Finca has changed. I'm excited to give back to the place that gave me so much.
