Fence Project Completed

Several years back, a shift in the ocean currents began to slowly make the beach in front of the Farm recede. Living on the beach is extremely beautiful, and it allows the kids and the entire Farm community an amazing place to swim and play. But as the sands shifted, we began to lose our beach, and it even eventually made a large section of our front fence fall into the ocean! For obvious reasons, this was a security hazard, and needed to be fixed as soon as possible. Unfortunately fundraising challenges meant that the project had to be postponed for several years, until we recently received help from a generous donor. With a talented team of construction workers from the local area, and our missionary Drew McAuliff as project manager, the fence project was recently completed. Now the Farm’s north facing fence is brand new, and the shifting sands have brought us a wonderful beach to spend time on again.

There are many more updates that need to be done to our aging buildings and property, so please consider donating so that we can continue to keep the Farm in good condition.

Youth Retreat in Juticalpa

One of the blessings of working with the Franciscan Sisters is that they help provide our kids with unique opportunities to grow in their faith. A few weeks ago, our Farm adolescents traveled to Juticalpa, Olancho to participate in a weekend retreat with over fifty youth from all over the country. They were definitely excited, as it was a wonderful opportunity for them to see a different part of the country, meet other young people, and explore and celebrate their Catholic faith.

Thank you, Felicia!

An enormous thank you to Felicia Johnson O'Brien for over 25 years of service to the Farm.

Felicia was one of the first three volunteers to visit the Finca- even before there were buildings in place! She, Adela and Christy decided to say "yes" even when there was no project to say yes to. Now, 26 years later Felicia has held almost every position there was to hold, from missionary to program administrator to board member and beyond.

We don't know where we would be without Felicia and are so grateful that while she will be stepping off our Board of Directors, she will continue to be a part of our mission and leading our Missionary Committee.

Farm USA Board Meeting

Our Board of Directors met last weekend for their annual in person session. We were especially grateful to be able to spend this weekend with members of our Honduran Board of Directors- specifically Bishop Luis Solé Fa, Bishop of Trujillo and Lawyer Victor Martinez. We pray that the mission of the Farm continues to grow and flourish to support those most in need in Honduras.
