Vaya con Dios Lic. Francis

A time comes in life when we have to say goodbye to the people we care about. This past month of August marked the end of Lic. Francis time with Farm of the Child and the beginning of a new journey in her life, where she'll be closer in distance to her family and loved ones. Although we now have different paths, we know that her time at Finca was invaluable. As she starts new ventures in her life, may God's blessings and grace be with her always. Vaya con Dios Lic. Francis, we are going to miss you!

First Aid Class

Whether it’s a person experiencing shortness of breath, someone falling or a a child is injured, at Farm of the Child medical emergencies take many forms. The minutes between when an incident occurs and when the person can be transported to receive medical services can be critical. This past month, our staff at the Farm received First Aid training to assist during that gap and provide valuable support while the person can receive medical treatment.

Happy Birthday Fernando y Samantha

Feliz cumpleaños Samantha y Fernando!! Birthdays are happy and impactful occasions for our children at Farm of the child. Our children always look forward to their special day, because they know that it will be filled with games, surprises, and cake that they can share with their Finca family, but is more special when celebrating a birthday with a sibling. This was the case for Fernando and Samantha.

Our celebration started with some delicious cake for everyone. Afterward we said some special remarks about the honored birthday boy and girl. Their smiles and joy were contagious as they hurriedly eat their cake to then spend time playing with their friends afterwards!

Last month in pictures

This month has been filled with celebrations, goodbyes and some cleaning and repairs. Our children continue to learn and build basic life computer skills. When we open the door to an education, we unlock the future for children. Education is the difference between failure and success. It is the difference between poverty and plenty. We are grateful for our staff, our volunteers, and our beloved Franciscan Sisters, all of who tangibly demonstrate with actions their love for our community.

Birthday Honorees

This month we celebrated Samantha and Fernando and would love for you to know more about them:

•Fernando's name is Lester, but he goes Fernando. He is a friendly and loving child, who has a big heart for our missionaries and older girls. He has lived with us since 2019.

• Samantha just started 2nd grade, she worked very hard last year to learn how to read. As the middle sibling, she is very independent, but loves to play and enjoys being a girl.

Staff Spotlight

Our Staff and Missionaries

Please continue to pray for our staff and missionaries in Honduras for God to watch over them. Our staff and missionaries leave everything to give testimony to God's word and His love by serving orphans and children who could no longer live with their families due to extreme poverty, abuse or both. Preparing them for healthy and productive lives in Honduras.

We pray that in difficult moments, the Lord sustain their energies, comfort their hearts, and crown their work with spiritual achievements.

May the adorable image of Jesus crucified on the Cross, accompanies them throughout life, speak to them of heroism, generosity, love and peace.

Amen

Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrow

Feast Day September 15

Our mother of sorrows, with strength from above you stood by the cross, sharing in the sufferings of Jesus, and with tender care you bore Him in your arms, mourning and weeping.

We praise you for your faith, which accepted the life God planned for you. We praise you for your hope, which trusted that God would do great things in you. We praise you for your love in bearing with Jesus the sorrows of His passion.

Holy Mary, may we follow your example, and stand by all your children who need comfort and love.

Mother of God, stand by us in our trials and care for us in our many needs. Pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

Amen!
